Sumner County Board of Education Provides Lunch and School Supplies for Students:
SCS Families,
I am very pleased to share information with you that will hopefully make our return to school next fall easier for everyone.
In order to continue to help support our families and students, our school district will purchase all K-8 school supplies for the 21/22 school year.
In addition, we reduced the requested high school fee from $50 to $25 to help ease the financial burden on our families with high school students.
The USDA extended its free lunch program through the 21/22 school year. Breakfast and lunch will be free for all students for the 21/22 school year.
I am pleased to say that in a time of so much uncertainty, the sound financial management and fiscal responsibility of our school board and county leadership has kept our district positioned to meet the needs of our schools, fund important student-centered initiatives, and continue planning for the future.
As we prepare to return to our normal schedule in August, we believe these initiatives will prepare students for success and provide some financial relief and support for our SCS families.
I hope everyone has a fun, safe and healthy summer.
In highest regard,
Del R. Phillips III Ph.D
